POST-MORTEM ON STUDENTS WHO GOT "B" FOR ENGLISH FOR 2011.

Comments:
I had given my best helping this student. I didn’t want this student to get C as she had the potential to get C. This student had a lot of emotional conflicts that I needed to attend to throughout the year. Thank God she didn’t get C.

Awang Azman Bin Awang Abu Garry



Comments:
When I started to teach this student, he was suffering from inferiority complex. I had been building his characters for two years. His English was very weak due to lack of exposure. I thought that this student would get C or D. I was glad that he could get  B. I really thank God for that.

Muhd Faiz Bin Ismail

Comments:
This student’s main weakness was he gave up easily. I had to wake him up throughout the years. It was not an easy task to keep him awake as this student was so used to a comfortable life and spoon feeding environment. Again I thank God despite his lack of determination, he didn’t get C.

Wan Saidatul Husna Nazwa Binti Wan Asbi

Comments:
This student already knew all the grammatical errors that she was not supposed to do. But then, she kept repeating the same mistakes in writing essay. I had done my part giving her extra work and notes on common grammatical errors that she must avoid but the she still made the same mistake. Before I started teaching her, she had enormous fear for English subject. Helping her to reduce the fear was a very challenging task. Even though she got B, I was happy because she had improved a lot.

Comments:
When I first met this student, she was full of negativity. She blindly stubborn and sulked a lot in my class. Changing her mindset and helping her to change her stubbornness into determination were my main priorities. I believed that if I could change those two negative elements, I could prevent her from getting C or D.

Mohamad Syafiq Iylia Bin Jamadi

Comments:
Syafiq didn’t have interest in English before. When I entered his life, I tried my best to change his anxiety towards English. He was a kind of student who liked to run away from problems. As I got to know him better, I helped him to like English and taught him not to give up easily. Helping him to stay positive towards English subject was not an easy task. I could never help him to move forward if I failed to build his liking for English.

Comments:
The biggest challenge that I faced with this student was his strong desire to leave this school. This student was bullied at the hostel. I tried to find out how bullied him but he would never tell me. Every day was a tiring day motivating him to stay positive. I told him, I didn’t mind if he wanted to leave this school but he must leave with good result. I was very concerned with this student as he had lost hope in everything he did. I guessed my role was to gather all the broken pieces. I thought that he would get C. I was very happy that he managed to get B.

Nurul Syafiqah Binti Jafarin

Comments:
This student was a joker in my class. My first task with her was to help her that she must learn to laugh and smile at the right time and at the right place. She considered everything as a game. She was not serious in everything she did. My role was to help her to stay serious at the right time and at the right place. She showed great changes but it was quite too late as she got B. I believed that if she stayed focused in the first place, getting an A would never be a problem.

Nur Erna Rafina Binti Mohamad Sapiee

Comments:
This girl was very shy and she was not serious in academic. I had to spend a lot of time and energy to help her to have objectives in my life. As she finally created her own objective, it was almost end of the year. I thanked God she got B.

Noor Hafsah Binti Razali

Comments:
This student once asked me to be her adopted father as her biological father had left her mother. I told her, I could not do that because I must be fair with everyone. Each student in my class needed my attention and affection. I could not give too much attention to her as some students also had family problems. I tried to motivate her every day as I wanted to convince her that I did really care about her. Her only dream was to get his father to come back to her mother. Her improvement was very slow as she was struggling to stay happy every day. I promised myself that I would try my best so that she would not get C. Thank God she did get B.
